Higher National Diplomas and Certificates are technical qualifications and can be found in a large range of construction and the built environment areas. HNCs are often studied part-time over two years. They are normally undertaken whilst employed, with students taking a day-release in order to attend their local college or university. HNDs take two years full-time to complete, and between three and four years if done part-time. Successful completion of an HNC may allow you to progress to the second year of an honours degree while completed HNDs allow entry into the second or third year.
The most common courses on offer across the country which can help you develop your knowledge and competence in the field of Architectural Technology are the HNC/D in Architectural Technology, Building Studies, Construction, Architectural Design and other similar subjects. Upon completion of such courses candidates can qualify for Associate membership (ACIAT) of the Institute.
