Associate
Associate membership is available to candidates with a recognised qualification and are not self-employed.
To become an Associate member, an applicant must have achieved one of the following qualifications:
- Architectural Technology degree
- degree in Architecture or a built environment subject with a technology base
- an EDEXCEL or SQA Higher National Certificate/Diploma in Architectural Technology, building studies or construction
- a Foundation degree in Architectural Technology
- an S/NVQ level 4 Architectural Technology
- overseas qualification equivalent to Higher National or above
Associate members are entitled to use the designation ACIAT. Applicants who are self-employed as sole practitioners, Partners, Directors, and LLP members must register as a profile candidate (Type B) but are not able to attain TCIAT. Associate members who wish to become self-employed must contact the Institute for guidance.

An application form for Associate membership can be downloaded below. When returning the application form you must include the following:
- £40 (€56) application fee and membership subscription fee
- copies of qualifications, if applicable (please do not send originals). If applying for dual membership, a copy of your CIOB/RIBA membership certificate is also required).
