Chartered

Only Chartered Members of CIAT are permitted to use the designation MCIAT and the descriptor, Chartered Architectural Technologist.

Standard progression
Associate members or profile candidates qualified to Honours degree or above, in a construction industry related programme, will be able to progress to Chartered Membership via the completion of the Chartered Architectural Technologist Professional and Occupational Performance (POP) Record, under an approved Supervisor. The applicant must then pass a Professional Practice Interview to attain Chartered Membership.

Technician progression
A professional Architectural Technician (TCIAT) will be able to progress to Chartered Membership of CIAT via the completion of the Chartered Architectural Technologist Professional and Occupational Performance (POP) Record, under an approved Supervisor. The applicant must then pass a Professional Practice Interview to attain Chartered Membership. Please see POP Records for further details.

Experiential progression
An Associate member or profile candidate, with either an HNC/D or without a formal recognised qualification, can progress towards Chartered Membership once they have attained at least ten years’ relevant work experience. The applicant will be required to complete the Chartered Architectural Technologist Professional and Occupational Performance (POP) Record and must then pass a Professional Practice Interview to attain Chartered Membership.
