Group Membership Scheme (GMS)
CIAT operates a Group Membership Scheme (GMS) for practices or organisations wishing to support and promote a culture of professionalism.
An employer with three or more staff wishing to apply for any grade of CIAT membership (excluding student) can register on the GMS.
As part of the Scheme, Professional Practice Interviews for candidates progressing to Chartered status can be held at the offices where the GMS operates, should five or more applicants be ready at the same time.
The benefits of the Scheme include:
- eligibility to refer to the practice as ‘Group members of CIAT’ e.g. on the practice’s stationery, you may also include the term ‘Member of CIAT Membership Scheme’ (provided that at least one Chartered Member, MCIAT, is either a partner, director, LLP member or is employed within the organisation)
- waived application fee
- 50% first year reduction in membership fees
- if five or more Professional and Occupational Performance (POP) Records are ready at the same time, assessment could be arranged at the work place and a saving of 25% for each candidate on the assessment fee
- if five or more candidates are ready for their Professional Practice Interview at the same time, the interviews could be arranged at the work place and a saving of 25% for each candidate on the assessment interview fee.

Code of Conduct
Applying for membership under the scheme
- If your organisation wishes to submit a GMS application, you should nominate a GMS coordinator to organise the collection of application forms and the payment of fees to the Institute. These must be submitted en bloc to CIAT.
- Once receipt of the initial applications, fees and supporting documentation have been acknowledged, applicants will be advised directly of the progression of their applications.
- Although application fees are waived, subscription fees are not. Company cheques should be clearly marked ‘GMS’ on the reverse and accompanied by a list of individual fees together with the names and CIAT membership numbers.
- An application form can be downloaded from this website and should be completed by the individual applicant.
- The Institute will contact the GMS coordinator if a local interview board becomes available so that arrangements can be made. If this is not feasible, applicants may be invited to attend their Professional Practice Interview at CIAT Central Office or at their work place.
- Please note that those applying under this Scheme will not be eligible for the ‘introduce a member’ incentive, or any other incentives.
- It is each applicant’s responsibility to advise the Institute of any changes in their circumstances.
