Case study

Andy Robb ACIAT

I initially chose to study Architectural Technology at Napier University as it appealed to my interests in design and new technology, having not had any experience of construction I found the course informative and thoroughly  enjoyable. It’s amazing how much you learn in the classroom (but equally how much you need to learn in the real world).

I am currently working in the architectural office of a large property management firm. Normal day to day duties entail, meeting clients, working on planning drawings/ building standards, design and detail work, (coffee breaks), site visits to see how work is progressing, meetings with local council planners, and of course   keeping a track on paper work.

Although the work is challenging I find the workload wide and varied, from castles to cow sheds, and this always keeps the interest levels up. This makes for a thoroughly enjoyable and challenging job.
