I completed my studies in Architectural Technology at the City of Birmingham Polytechnic, subsequently the University of Central England, in 1978 with a distinction in the Measurement and Economics of Building. I was successfully admitted to Chartered Membership of the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists following a period of professional practice.

Prior to establishing my own practice in 1992, I worked with architectural practices in Edgbaston, Kings Norton, Birmingham City Centre, Dudley and Sutton Coldfield, gaining experience in a broad range of projects from small domestic works to major building projects of £20 - £30 million. The projects included social and executive housing, churches, offices, commercial premises, schools and healthcare, in both new-build and refurbishment fields.
