Chartered, MCIAT — this Member carries the protected title "Chartered Architectural Technologist". A Chartered Member has demonstrated their competence as a Chartered Architectural Technologist to the Institute through knowledge and performance based evidence. They are qualified to run projects from inception through to completion.
Technician, TCIAT — this member is a professionally qualified Architectural Technician. A Technician member will have demonstrated their competence as a professional Architectural Technician to the Institute through knowledge and performance based evidence. They are qualified to work on projects but can't run a project from inception through to completion.
Associate, ACIAT — this member is an Associate of the Institute. Associate membership is recognition of academic achievement within the discipline of Architectural Technology and a grade of membership before members progress to either Technician, TCIAT or Chartered, MCIAT membership. As a holder of an academic qualification, they are part qualified as an Architectural Technology professional.
Student (carries no designation) — student membership is a vital first step towards a professional qualification as either a Chartered Architectural Technologist, MCIAT or professional Architectural Technician, TCIAT. Students will be able to hold this class of membership whilst completing their academic part of the training process, providing they do not offer services directly to clients. They are not qualified.
Profile candidate (carries no designation) — a profile candidate is a holding category within the Institute, before candidates progress to either Technician, TCIAT or Chartered, MCIAT membership. Profile candidates have not been assessed in anyway and may not make reference to the Institute in any form.
