The complete submission will include

  1. Four copies of the completed application form
  2. Cheque payable to CIAT Registers Ltd for £260. (Fee correct at time of print)
  3. Four copies of the applicant’s current CV with qualifications and employment history including a job description of current post.
  4. Four copies of a personal statement. The personal statement will comprise an expanded CV of approximately 300 words. It will provide an overview of the applicant’s career and work experience and how this experience has provided the applicant with a high level of competence in environmental issues.

If submission is incomplete, additional items are requested from the applicant.

The assessment will be undertaken by two CEnv Assessors who may review the applications either together or independently and consult on the final result.

If the Panel is in any doubt about experience or the evidence presented by the applicant it may invite the applicant to a Professional Review Interview, to establish further the candidate’s competency.

This interview can either review against the key competences or just specific elements. An additional appropriate administration fee of £50 will be levied.

Grandparent Process
For the first twelve months following the date of licence commencement, CIAT is able to offer a simplified version of the assessment processes to its individual members satisfying the criteria for registration as Chartered Environmentalist. This is known as the Grandparent Period. The offer of grandparent rights to Chartered Members is time limited. The applications of eligible individuals may only be considered for Registration if they are completed and returned by those individuals who are either: already members of CIAT prior to the Licence Date; or, those who apply to become members and are successful within the twelve month grandparent period from the date of licence commencement.

Post Assessment
CIAT will advise the applicant in writing of his or her success or referral within two months of the assessment. The Society for the Environment shall provide a certificate direct to the applicant on the notification by CIAT.

CIAT will advise unsuccessful applicants of their rights to appeal when they notify them of a referral result.
