The Building Control Act of 2007 introduces the provision of Disability Access Certificates as part of the Fire Safety Certificate Application Process. The Building Control (Amendment) Regulations Act introduced in 2009 highlight that all applications for Fire Safety Certificates must be accompanied by a Disability Access Certificate from 1 January 2010.

The Building Regulations (Part M Amendment) Regulations 2010 (S.1. No 513 of 2010) were signed by the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government John Gromley on 1November 2010 and published as a Statutory Instrument on 5 November 2010. The Building Regulations (Part M Amendment) Regulations introduce a number of significant amendments to Part M of the Building Regulations which will come into operation from 1 January 2012.
